Festive fun at PHM

Come in from the cold and enjoy some festive fun at PHM with all the family!  Be inspired by the stained glass window in Main Gallery One and create your own at our craft table.  Hold it up to a window and see the winter light shine through.  Find out more about our Object of the Month (pictured above) and see it on display along with several other political Christmas cards from our collection in the museum foyer throughout December.  We're closed over the festive season 24, 25, 26 December 2016 and 1 January 2017, but otherwise we are open as usual and look forward to welcoming you!

New WEA courses for 2017

Interested in exploring the themes of our collections in more detail?  Why not sign up to one of the Workers’ Educational Association (WEA) courses taking place at PHM in 2017.  Ten week People Make Their Own History course, starting Monday 16 January 2017, looks at how people have protested for a more equal society from the 1800s to the present.  Five week A People's History of the Rainbow: LGBT+ Politics, starting Friday 3 March 2017, will study and explore the history of people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans* and other gender and sexuality minorities (LGBT+), linking to our upcoming exhibition Never Going Underground: The Fight for LGBT+ Rights.
  Spinningfields Bar Hutte

Christmas at Spinningfields

Just a stone’s throw from the museum, Spinningfields have brought a taste of après ski to the city centre in the shape of Bar Hütte, a cosy ski lodge bar complete with individual alpine hüttes.  What’s more, the Spinningfields Christmas Markets feature different artisan traders each week, making each visit different to the last.  Don’t miss your last chance to visit the markets, open 11.00am to 7.00pm daily until Sunday 18 December.  Bar Hütte is open daily from 11.00am to 11.00pm until Sunday 1 January 2017.
