Festive Fun

Come in from the cold and visit the museum this festive season.  Enjoy your favourite carols with another seasonal performance from Manchester Civil Service choir, followed by a tour of our Demon Drink? exhibition.  Meet author of Glad Tidings of Struggle and Strife Llew Smith at his talk about his unique collection of protest Christmas cards, then why not pick up a signed copy of the book for a Christmas gift?  Make your own snowman, snowlady, or snowdog at our Subversive Snowmen craft table and bring your under 5s to The Little PHM story session, Under the Rainbow.

Christmas parties at The Left Bank

Still looking for a venue for your Christmas party?  The museum’s cafe bar The Left Bank has launched a fabulous shared party nights offer for only £15.00 per person, including a drink on arrival, a festive finger buffet, a DJ, disco and cash bar open until 1.00am!  If you are planning a visit during the festive season, please note the museum and The Left Bank will be closed on 24, 25, 26 December 2012 and 1 January 2013.  We are open as usual apart from these days, so come along with friends and family and enjoy our seasonal events and activities.

Celebrating 2012 at PHM

Along with our exciting programme of exhibitions and events, we were involved in a number of local and national events; Manchester Histories, Literature and Science Festivals, Museums at Night, The Manchester Weekender and Parliament Week.  We also published a picture book of Mr Ordinary’s Prize, launched an audio guide for the main galleries and created an app to bring the people’s history to life.  We were delighted to receive a Special Commendation at the European Museum of the Year Awards.  Here’s to an even better 2013!

Skate at Spinningfields

Less than a five minute walk from the museum, Spinningfields Ice Rink is back this winter for its fifth successive year and it's bigger and better than ever before!  Manchester's only outdoor ice rink is open every day from 10.00am until 9.30pm until Sunday 6 January 2013.  There are discounts on tickets for Yellow Card holders, so why not enjoy a visit to the museum followed by a trip to the Spinningfields Winter Wonderland for a spin on the ice?
