Christmas tree   Festive family fun! Looking for something to do with the family over the holidays?  Look no further - visit the museum and take part in a range of family friendly activities, fun for all ages.  Enjoy a seasonal performance from Manchester Civil Service Choir in the museum's magnificent Engine Hall, be inspired by the Politics, Protest and the Christmas Card Community Gallery exhibition and make your own festive masterpiece at our Christmas craft table, or even have a go at printing your own wrapping paper.  Why not bring your under 5s to The Little People's History Museum story session, Under the Rainbow and help Matilda solve clues to get to the end of the rainbow and find what she is looking for. Anti-Suffragette Christmas card               Politics, Protest and the Christmas Card, opening Saturday 4 December Don't miss our next Community Gallery exhibition, on display until Thursday 6 January 2011.  Through their wide collection of political Christmas cards, the exhibition's curators Llew Smith and his late wife Pam Smith record many political and industrial issues since the mid 19th century, as well as portraying the words and deeds of those, who in the face of injustice, refused to remain silent.  You can also attend a talk by Llew Smith to introduce the exhibition on its first day, Saturday 4 December, including other highlights from his collection. DADI awards 2010 Kirstie Buchanan and Karen Moore collecting the award             PHM wins web award! The museum and our digital agency, Reading Room, were delighted to win a DADI (Drum Awards for the Digital Industries) at the annual awards ceremony held on Friday 12 November.  Our website won a national award for the best not for profit/charity website category.  At the DADI’s, the judges commented that the website demonstrated beautiful photography, provided so much rich information and was ‘a really nice site’.  Kirstie Buchanan, Creative Director from Reading Room and Karen Moore, the museum’s Marketing Manager, were pleased to collect the award on behalf of both organisations. Spinningfields Ice Rink & The Lodge Winter Bar     Spinningfields Ice Rink and The Lodge Winter Bar The festive season is here and Spinningfields Ice Rink is the perfect place to soak up the atmosphere this winter. Here for six weeks of winter fun, the Spinningfields Ice Rink is in its new home in the heart of Manchester’s luxury retail quarter, The Avenue - just a few minutes walk from the museum.  Enjoy a skate on the dazzling rink complete with a giant Christmas tree, then relax in The Lodge for a hot chocolate with family and friends.  The Lodge bar, complete with snug areas is the perfect place to chill out after a shop or spin.
