Come along and watch two historical titans battle it out to win your votes for your tipple of choice!

  • In the temperance corner Dr Annemarie McAllister, senior lecturer at UCLan and Temperance and the Working Class Project Leader will discuss the scientific arguments to demonstrate that water was better than beer.
  • Dr James Sumner, lecturer at Manchester University and expert in the history of brewing, will respond by explaining the scientific achievements of brewers.

The Left Bank cafe bar will be serving temperance drinks and pulling pints so there will be a drink for everyone!

Suitable for adults.

This event is part of Manchester Science Festival; Come out and play, create and experiment at this nine day Festival.
