12 March 2015, Our Voice @ People's History MuseumOur Voice, a collaboration between UpRising, a national youth leadership development organisation and the People’s History Museum, gives young people from across Greater Manchester a platform to voice what really matters to them as the nation heads into 2015’s general election.  This event brings key leaders from the region together with young people to discuss current social issues and co-design solutions to address them.  This event is part of UpRising’s My Voice, My Vote programme.


Community leaders taking part in this event:

  • Simone Spray – Chief Executive of 42nd Street
  • Mike Wild – Chief Executive of MACC
  • Raja Miah – CEO of Collective Spirit Multi Academy Trust
  • Cllr Beth Knowles – Councillor for Manchester Central (and PHM Trustee)
  • Ed Cox – Director of IPPR North
  • Sam Kalubowila – Widening Participation Coordinator at the University of Manchester
  • Becca Taylor – Founding Partner of The Curiosity Bureau

Over the last year UpRising inUpRising, My Voice My Vote Manchester has worked with 120 16 to 20 year olds to explore the themes of politics and power and offer each the opportunity to make a difference on issues that matter most to them.  Our Voice sees them creatively showcase what action they want leaders to take to help tackle the social problems they feel strongly about.

Suitable for young people aged 16 to 25

  • Treat yourself to 15% off in The Left Bank cafe bar and 10% off in the museum shop when you attend an event at the People’s History Museum
  • Visit our latest exhibition Election! Britian Votes, on show until Sunday 28 June 2015

The work of Election! artist-in-residence Alex Gardner has been supported through Arts Council England’s Grants for the arts scheme.

Booking Requirements:

  • Please note event attendees must arrive at least ten minutes before the start time of the event, otherwise their booked space will be given to someone on the reserve list
  • Please contact the museum as soon as possible if you wish to cancel your reservation so your place can be given to another visitor
  • Please note all donations are non refundable
