After the occupation of the Channel Islands in June 1940, 17,000 people fled from Guernsey to industrial towns in Northern England. Bonds were forged that were so strong they still exist today.
Visit the museum and meet author Gillian Mawson, who will be signing copies of her book Guernsey Evacuees – The Forgotten Evacuees of the Secod World War. Take the opportunity to talk to evacuees who were uprooted from their homes many years ago about their experiences.
In association with The History Press.
