Guardian Members event: Bruised air, the big camera and other chapbooks

A special event for Guardian Members

14 July 2016

6 February - 14 August 2016, Grafters - Industrial society in image and word @ People's History Museum. Burlers and Menders by C H Wood, Scotts Mill, 1948 © Bradford Museums & Galleries

Time 18:00 - 19:00

Duration 60 minutes

Cost £8 (price includes a glass of wine and a chapbook to take home)

Ahead of the launch of their Grafters chapbook, Ian Beesley and Ian McMillan invite Guardian Members to an exclusive event showcasing previous projects.  Ian and Ian will present and talk about their work together as creators of  ‘chapbooks’ covering such diverse subjects as bruised air, the big big camera, Taraxacum officinale, twins and The Book of Damp.

‘Chapbooks’ or cheap books originated in the 17th century as a cheap form of publishing.  Small and consisting of approximately 16 pages, popular in Victorian times in England, chapbooks have found new popularity in South America, where they are produced in their thousands.  Ian and Ian have taken this concept and now use it for the dissemination and illustration of a wide variety of topics.

Suitable for adults and young people
