25 January 2014, conference @ People's History Museum,CWS first offices © National Co-operative ArchiveTying in with our changing exhibition The People’s Business – 150 Years of The Co-operative, this conference explores a range of themes related to the 150 year history of the Co-operative Wholesale Society (CWS), which became The Co-operative Group in 2001.

We will be joined by experts from the Co-operative Heritage Trust, the University of Central Lancashire, the University of Liverpool and Northumbria University to explore the operations and activities of one of the UK’s best known and largest co-operative businesses, from its inception in 1863 through to today.
