PHM Highly Commended at Museums + Heritage Awards 2016

Museums + Heritage AwardsThe museum is delighted to have been Highly Commended in the Fundraisers of the Year category at the Museums + Heritage Awards 2016, for our Sponsor a Radical Hero campaign.

The Museums + Heritage Awards celebrate best practice within the world of museums, galleries and heritage visitor attractions, attracting hundreds of entries which compete to win one of several prestigious awards.

PHM’s Head of Business Development Janneke Geene attended the glittering awards ceremony at 8 Northumberland Avenue in London last night and said: ‘We’re delighted to have been Highly Commended for the hotly contested Fundraisers of the Year accolade at the Museums + Heritage Awards 2016.  Getting national recognition for our Sponsor a Radical Hero campaign is a real tribute to the creativity of the campaign and hard work of our teams.  We congratulate the winners of the Award, Biggar Museum Trust for their Biggar & Upper Clydesdale Museum initiative.’

The People’s History Museum celebrates the stories of the radical thinkers whose big ideas have shaped our society.  Through the Radical Heroes scheme we celebrate two people each time; the Radical Hero who believed in ideas worth fighting for, and the Radical Sponsor who invests in the museum by honouring their Hero.

Many people have contributed to the success of this scheme and deserve a mention.  Not least the Radical Sponsors who have invested money in the museum by sponsoring a Radical Hero, but also the museum team, the Heritage Lottery Fund for helping us devise the scheme through their Transition Fund, our branding agency True North for donating the creative design time, and consultants Counter Culture for providing the inspiration that led to the scheme’s success.  And last but by no means least, the Trustees of the museum, who have been absolutely crucial to the campaign’s success.
