Museum shortlisted for two more awards

The People’s History Museum is delighted to have been shortlisted for two Museums & Heritage Awards for Excellence; one for the re-branding of the new museum under the Marketing Campaign category and one for the museum’s Main Galleries under the Permanent Exhibition category.

The awards celebrate best practice within the world of museums, galleries and heritage visitor attractions, attracting hundreds of entries which compete to win one of ten prestigious awards.  The categories for 2011 cover all major aspects of the museums, galleries and heritage attractions industry.

Marketing Campaign

  • Museum of London: Galleries of modern London
  • Historic Royal Palaces: Enchanted Palace, Kensington Palace
  • The British Library: Evolving English: One language, many voices
  • Tyne & Wear Museums: The Late Shows
  • SS Great Britain: 40th Homecoming Anniversary/Lets Celebrate

Permanent Exhibition 

  • Imperial War Museum: The Lord Ashcroft Gallery: Extraordinary Heroes
  • The Bowes Museum: Fashion & Textile Gallery
  • Museum of London: Galleries of Modern London
  • Scott Polar Research Institute: The Polar Museum: Promoting Britain’s Polar Heritage
  • Event Communications: The Robert Burns Birthplace Museum

A panel of judges consider each application, with shortlisted entries having shown evidence of ‘outcome, creativity, relation to objective and cost effectiveness’.  Winning entries also have to demonstrate something extra – ‘true excellence’!

The awards will be presented by comedienne and broadcaster, Sue Perkins, at a prestigious dinner on Wednesday 11 May 2011, at Church House, Westminster, London.
