Museum achieves Silver Award

15 July 2013

EBP Silver AwardThe People’s History Museum has been successful in achieving the Silver Award as part of the Environmental Business Pledge awarded by Manchester City Council in partnership with Groundwork.

The museum has demonstrated that we have made substantial savings on our water, gas and electricity bills over the last 12 months.  In addition we have installed a new electricity optimiser machine which has enabled us to save an extra 13.7% on our overall energy consumption making us a more sustainable business.

Our recycling rate has increased to 73% over the year and with the help of the cafe recycling, we have reduced our carbon foot print even further.

A certificate for the award will arrive within a few weeks and we will be adding this to our ‘Celebrate’ wall behind reception.

The Environmental Business Pledge is an advice and award scheme developed by Manchester City Council, in partnership with Groundwork MSSTT, to support businesses to improve their environmental performance, whilst saving money.
