This year PHM hosts Grafters: Industrial society in image and word, a major exhibition of photography from the age of the Industrial Revolution.  As Britain’s society changed, advances in photography enabled industrial workers to document their own lives for the first time.  Curated by leading documentary photographer Ian Beesley, the exhibition showcases previously unseen images from the period, taken from important photographic collections.

The museum would like to offer a fantastic opportunity to all artists, photographers, poets and filmmakers to take part in an open submission exhibition in our Community Gallery space: All Work and No Play.  Artists will respond to the themes and images in Grafters.  Submissions are open to people of all skill levels.

All Work and No Play will run from Saturday 5 March to Sunday 17 April 2016.  If you are interested in taking part in the exhibition please contact mark.wilson@phm.org.uk or on 0161 838 9190 with details of your art work.  Please note that all submissions must meet the stated guidelines.

Grafters has been kindly supported by UCLan.
