Audio guide re-launch

30 November 2012

Audio guide in use in the galleries

The museum is pleased to announce that since the audio guides were launched earlier this year, we have been monitoring take up and actively gathering feedback from users.  Following evaluation of all the comments and feedback, improvements have been made to the script with additional information added so that visitors can learn even more about the objects and stories in our main galleries.

In addition to the improved English tour, we are now offering a German version enabling visitors to select up to 20 audio recordings they want to listen to, gaining more in-depth information about our displays as they progress through the museum’s main galleries.

Audio guides are available for hire from the museum’s reception for just £2 and upon purchase visitors receive a voucher for a hot drink in The Left Bank café bar for £1!

A new development being launched tomorrow (1 December) is the option for visitors to listen to the audio guides on their own mobile phones.  Visitors with an iphone can download the free Podcatcher app from the App Store and then scan the QR codes which are located at all the audio points around the galleries to learn more about the objects and displays.  This service will be available for android smartphones in the new year.

To download the Podcatcher app visit the App Store.

Podcatcher is provided by Guide ID.
