Animation of the new People’s History Museum

26 February 2010

Friday 26 February

6.00pm to 9.00pm

On Friday 26 February, the new People’s History Museum’s will host a private launch party, one week before the official launch of the new museum. To mark the beginning of the countdown to the official opening, and to celebrate the opening of the museum’s new building, one of the UK’s leading outdoor arts specialists, Walk the Plank, will create a beautiful visual statement.

Using lighting effects and pyrotechnic elements to highlight the juxtaposition of the traditional old, and contemporary new building, the site will be animated with a flowing wave of changing coloured lights and moving flames. The event will also mark the launch of the museum’s new logo and brand which will be incorporated into the evening’s animation.

To see the full impact of the animation from outside, pop down and see the museum from the opposite side of the River Irwell (the best view will be from the Salford side!) between 6.00pm and 9.00pm on Friday 26 February.

The lighting animation will continue for the following week up and including Friday 5 March from 5pm until midnight every day, so make sure you come down to Spinningfields to have a look.
