Family Friendly half term fun!

What would a superhero who stands up for others, fights for equality, or celebrates what makes us all different look like?  Create your own at our week long craft table!  Pop your puppet along to our Never Going Underground exhibition’s story space and show off their superhero powers.  Get creative at our Make Your Mark workshop inspired by the Pansy Project; decorate a teacup, plant a flower in it and take a little happiness away with you.  Why not tweet photos of your finished creations to us @PHMLearn, using the hashtag #NGU2017.  Explore the rest of the museum and discover interactives and activities for all ages to enjoy.

Continuum: Framing Trans Lives in 21st Century Britain

Recent years have seen an explosion in media interest in trans issues – however misconceptions about the realities of trans people’s lives remain.  Curated by Artmob, Continuum showcases the diversity of trans voices in 21st century Britain and features 14 artists from a variety of backgrounds, working across a range of artistic media.  Running from Saturday 24 June to Sunday 3 September, the exhibition welcomes visitors into the artists’ lives to share their stories in all their playful, heartfelt and gritted glory.  Join Artmob for the exhibition launch on Friday 23 June, 6.00pm – 8.00pm.

Artisan Summer Fair at Victoria Baths

On Sunday 11 June, 11.00am – 4.00pm, our friends at Victoria Baths are hosting an Artisan Summer Fair, with around 50 stalls over two floors.  Local producers, craftspeople and artists will be selling a range of goods including artwork, crafts and speciality foods.  This is a great opportunity to explore Victoria Baths and discover the stories of one of Manchester’s grandest buildings (designed by architect Henry Price, who also designed PHM’s Pump House building) with guided tours taking place throughout the day.  The Gallery Choir will be performing at 1.00pm and 2.30pm and swimming themed art installations will be on display.  Admission is £4, or £7 including a guided tour.  The Tea Room and Gift Shop will also be open.
