Show Me the Money Learning Sessions

Explore the themes of our Show Me the Money exhibition with your group

Moral Hazard © Stephen McLaren

The museum’s displayed the changing exhibition Show Me the Money from Saturday 11 July 2015 to Sunday 24 January 2016.  Learning groups can continue to book any of our Show Me the Money themed Learning sessions for their school or community learners.

The exhibition looked at how the financial world has been portrayed through illustration, photography and other visual media over the last three centuries in Britain and the United States.  It asked the questions: what does ‘the market’ look like?  What does money really stand for?  How can the abstractions of high finance be made visible?  Who is finance for?

Suitable for Key Stages 2, 3, 4 & Post 16 groups

Explore the exhibition with a professional writer to inspire your learners to devise their own creative response to the world of finance and politics.  Outcomes can be tailored to the group’s needs, and could include poetry, lexicons or monologues.

Choose from a range of artist-led workshops that explore key themes and questions asked in the exhibition.  Inspired by the exhibition, learners will produce original art work to represent their thoughts on finance and politics.

  • Print Power: Screen-print views on finance onto a collage created piece of art
  • Build a Banner: Work together to produce a banner that represents the world of finance and politics
  • Protest Pots: Mould  the world of money into a clay creation
  • The Art of Protest: Does the exhibition make your group want to protest about the world of finance?  If so, produce protest art work to tell people why
