Family Friendly Summer Fun

Looking for something to do with the family over the summer holidays?  Visit the museum and enjoy our exciting Family Friendly programme of events and activities.  From printing bags to building banners, Living History performances to interactive story sessions, there’s something for everyone, from under 5s to adults!  You can even stitch your own mini protest banner in a workshop run by Craftivism Manchester - to be exhibited at a secret exhibition later in the year as part of the Manchester Weekender.  There’s hands-on stuff in every gallery as usual and you can get creative at our Busy Bees Craft Table all summer long.

New Community Gallery exhibition - Retracing Salford

Don't miss this exciting Community Gallery exhibition, running until Wednesday 14 September.  Co-ordinated by artist Lawrence Cassidy, this interactive exhibition is made up of images and objects collected from people who lived in some of Salford’s now demolished terraced streets.  Focusing on the Ordsall and Broughton areas, this exhibition aims to bring people together again to reflect on diverse aspects of community life.  With regular opportunities to meet the curator while the exhibition is on display, visitors are invited to share any memories, photographs or related objects they may have of Salford days gone by.

Shop at PHM

Looking for a unique gift or souvenir?  The museum's shop stocks a wide range of museum themed items such as cards, books, posters, t-shirts and pocket-money friendly stuff for kids.  We're always looking to improve our stock and welcome your suggestions - after being inundated with requests, we now stock a poster version of the Battle for the Ballot mindmap (for only £2), which can be seen full scale in the museum's foyer.  We also recently had some lovely PHM mugs commissioned (pictured above), available in pink, green and orange, reminding you 'there have always been ideas worth fighting for' while enjoying your cup of tea!  The shop is open every day from 10.00am to 5.00pm.

Screenfields Family Film Club Returns

Keep the little ones entertained throughout the summer holidays with six weeks of films for the whole family to enjoy at Screenfields. Watch free films every Saturday morning at 11am from 23 July until 27 August.  There will be free face painting and activities too.  The screen is 5 minutes walk from the museum in Spinningfields, so why not watch a film and then come and visit the museum? Continuing the film theme, the museum is also part of the Family Friendly Film Club Weekender from 4 to 7 August.  See for more information.
