Title Papers on Disarmament
Date(s) 1931-36
Scope and Content The first file appertains to leaflets, broadsheets and booklets from the National Peace Council (formerly National Council for the Prevention of War), which had regular correspondence and contact with the Labour Party, as most of the other left-inclined anti-war movements had been proscribed. The second file deals with the Women's International League, which was responsible for drawing up signatures for the Disarmament Declaration at the Disarmament Conference of 1932. Most of the file contains "progress reports" in the collection of signatures in Britain and abroad. The third file has memoranda and other papers from the Central Disarmament Bureau. This was a body set up by Lord Cecil, with similar objects to the National Peace Council. The other files contain miscellaneous material, which has leaflets from religious movements, the League of Nations and various Labour Party papers.    National Peace Council ID/DIS/1    Women's International League ID/DIS/2    Central Disarmament Bureau ID/DIS/3    League of Nations Union ID/DIS/4    Miscellaneous Material ID/DIS/5    The Labour Party and Disarmament ID/DIS/6
