Parallel Republic: The Art of Civil Disobedience

On display from Saturday 21 January to Sunday 2 April, don’t miss this fascinating exhibition of painting, illustration, photography, film, animation and music born of the Syrian uprising by some of the most active and acclaimed Syrian artists, collectives and citizen journalists including Khalil Younes, Sulafa Hijazi, Lens Young Dimashqi, Comic4Syria, Art & Freedom, Alshaab Alsori Aref Tarekh, and many more.  These artist-activists have created a parallel republic where artists and activists share information and express themselves virtually, as well as on the streets.

DEMAND Utopia!  An action-packed evening of readings, talks, screenings and a pop up exhibition

Stick or Twist @ Castlefield Gallery

Launch Pad: Stick or Twist

For its first Launch Pad exhibition of 2017, our friends at Castlefield Gallery present Stick or Twist, curated by CG Associate Member and recent graduate Kieran Leach.  The title, Stick or Twist is derived from the process of making the exhibition, whereby after making his selection of works from eight other artists, Leach gave them the option to ‘stick or twist’ – either exhibit a work chosen by Leach, or swap and include something different.  He relinquished all input as curator, avoiding dialogue, and leaving himself without a say.  On show from Friday 3 to Sunday 12 February.
