Woody the Time Travelling Shopper

February family fun

Around town next week for Half Term?  Create your own time travelling glasses at our week-long craft table to wear on your adventure through time at the museum, and meet Woody the time travelling shopper at our Living History performance.  Create your own delicious drawing at our Sweet Surprises workshop, inspired by the cakes and biscuits advertised in The People’s Business exhibition – you can even add your drawings to our Co-op cake stand!  As well as all this, there's the usual hands-on stuff in every gallery for all ages to enjoy.

Top Ten items from the collection

What’s your favourite object at PHM?  We’re excited to reveal a new feature on the collections pages of our website.  A new slideshow displays ten items from the museum’s collection which we feel best represent what we have on show in our galleries, giving visitors an idea of what they can see at the museum and also providing access to further information on our top objects.  Keep any eye out for future top tens as we change the selection to highlight more of our extensive collection.

Come along for a two day celebration of our exciting Play Your Part project.  We’ll be showcasing some of the fab things we’ve been trying out over the past few months

Looking for something a bit different?  Inspired by the museum's collections, our shop stocks a range of museum themed gifts, cards, books and souvenirs

Wonder Women

Wonder Women Radical Manchester events

The museum is really excited to be part of Wonder Women Radical Manchester, a programme of cultural events shining a spotlight on women change makers, past and present.  A milestone on the way to 2018 and the centenary of the first Act of Parliament for women, Wonder Women is a distinctive Manchester voice questioning the power of women today.  Join us for a fabulous season of events celebrating the achievements of women.

Manchester Histories Festival

Manchester Histories Festival 2014

The museum is delighted to be involved with Manchester Histories Festival, a ten day celebration of Greater Manchester’s unique histories and heritage, taking place 21 – 30 March 2014.  The festival provides the opportunity for everyone to learn, explore, discover, and interpret history through music, film, debate, talks by renowned historians, performance, walking tours and lots more.  Join us for an exciting programme of events at the museum to celebrate our great city’s history.
