If you’re visiting the museum on Good Friday, why not join Spinningfields from 2.00pm for The Manchester Duck Race and lots more family friendly entertainment.

Community Gallery exhibition Hands On - opening Sun 22 May

Visit the museum's new Community Gallery exhibition Hands On, opening on Sunday 22 May and running until Sunday 10 July.  This exhibition is inspired by the imagination and creativity of a group of young people with dual sensory impairments and learning disabilities, who participate in Sense Wakefield art workshops.  The exhibition celebrates the work students have created as well as raising awareness of deafblindness.  Sense is a national charity that supports and campaigns for children and adults who are deafblind.  The exhibition coincides with Deafblind Awareness Week which starts on Monday 20 June.

Last chance to see Death and the Working Class

Don't miss your last chance to visit our current Changing Exhibition, Death and the Working Class, running up to and including Monday 2 May.  The exhibition looks at the enormous changes in perceptions of death and funeral customs over the last two hundred years.  Fascinating objects from the museum’s own collection and other local collections are on display, illustrating the world of ‘the good send off’.  Join the free final tour of this exhibition on Friday 15 April, 1.15pm – 2.00pm, given by the curator.
