Will Kaufman’s Woody Guthrie: Hard Times and Hard Travelin’

Enjoy this exciting ‘live documentary’ on Saturday 24 November that sets the songs of Woody Guthrie in the context of the American 1930s, highlighting the blending of music and radical politics that marks his most powerful work.  The evening will begin with an exclusive pre-concert supper with Will Kaufman; singer, multi-instrumentalist and Professor of American Literature and Culture at the University of Central Lancashire.  Take the opportunity to ask Will questions at the end of the evening and purchase your signed copy of his book Woody Guthrie, American Radical (2011), available in the museum shop.

Annual National Peace History Conference @ PHM

We are pleased to be hosting the annual national Peace History Conference at the museum on Saturday 10 November.  Recognising its move from London this year, and celebrating the International Year of Co-operatives, the conference title From Local to Global – the north’s role in peace and co-operation will be reflected in the day’s programme.  The conference is open to everyone, and aims to increase understanding of past peace movements to inform the present and the future.  If you are interested in holding an event at the museum, please contact our venue hire team.
