Conservative Party leaflet from the 1951 general election
This is a Conservative Party leaflet from the 1951 general election. This was the election which brought the Conservative Party back to power for the first time as a single majority party since 1935.
This leaflet concerns the housing issue, the Bob the Builder character was presented as ‘the little man’ trying to fight against the legacy of wartime bureaucracy and socialist over planning after the war. The central message being just give the local/little man the tools to get on with the job and we can sort out the housing crisis.
