The new People’s History Museum cost £12.5 million to build. The museum is very grateful to all its funders. See below to find out where we got the money from.

Our major funders for the re-development project include:

HLF



Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) awarded £7.18 million in November 2007 after the museum successfully completed the Stage II application process

Manchester City Council (MCC) committed the land adjacent to the Pump House and provided assistance towards the HLF Stage I application.

The Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) and European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) both invested in the museum’s re-development.
