Officially open!
The new People’s History Museum marked its opening with a launch party like no other. On 26 February around 800 guests joined staff and Trustees in celebrating the launch of the new museum. It wasn’t only the inside of the museum that was lively – with kind support from our friends at creativetourist.com, the whole site was wonderfully animated with a flowing wave of changing coloured lights and moving flames, created by outdoor arts specialists Walk the Plank. A week later on the evening of 5 March, 200 guests joined in celebrating the official opening of the new museum, welcoming the Rt Hon Andy Burnham MP, whose personal speech quoted from one of the late Michael Foot’s poems about football fans and Everton - a subject close to his heart. |

Successful ‘test drive’ completed
During the first three weeks of opening, visitors were invited to help ‘test drive’ the museum's new exhibitions and facilities. The response was extraordinary. Almost 500 people responded and we received almost 1500 comments. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive including several comments on how amazed and excited visitors were by what has been achieved. There were also lots of helpful suggestions and observations that we are now busy working our way through. A significantly recurring theme from the feedback was that visitors said they would be coming back. We hope you'll be visiting again or even for the first time - if so, check out

General Election - 6 May 2010
Not sure who to vote for in the forthcoming General Election on 6 May? We probably can't help you decide this, but why not visit to find out more about how we all won the right to vote. The museum galleries tell the story of Britain's struggle for democracy, meeting the people who fought our battle for the ballot - you'll find out it wasn't easy and not something that should be taken for granted.

Shop suggestions?
Stocking a wide range of gifts, cards, books and souvenirs inspired by the museum collections, the new shop has proved popular with visitors of all ages. We’d like to build on this by producing more items for sale in the shop based on the museum’s collections and items on display in the new galleries. Please help us decide what you’d like to see in the shop - let us know your favourite images next time you visit the museum or email info@phm.org.uk
